Alistair is the Director for Sustainability at COWI in the UK, and also the Head of Sustainability on the Lower Thames Crossing project. He has 38 years of experience as an environmental geologist, working both as a consultant and contractor on infrastructure, energy and regeneration projects. During his time on Lower Thames Crossing the project, sustainability considerations were concentrated on carbon emissions reduction, biodiversity and creating social value. Designated as a pathfinder project for carbon emissions reduction, a PAS2080 compliant carbon management system was created, emissions reduction was made central to contractor selection and a set of carbon-specific contract clauses put in place.
